The Right to Information Act, 2005 (22 of 2005) was enacted by Parliament and came into force on 15 June 2005. This law provides for the right of citizens to information to ensure access to information under the control of public authorities in order to promote transparency and accountability in the work of each public authority. Written applications can be submitted in English or Marathi directly to the Public Relations Officer (PIO) concerned. Pay the prescribed fee of Rs.10/-. There is no fee for applicants below the poverty line. After submitting the application, citizens will receive a receipt with the application number, date and details of the CPIO concerned. You will receive the information within 30 days. You can object if the information was provided to you by a third party. It will take another 10 days. If response times are not met, additional information will be provided free of charge.
